Colonel James P. ‘Pat’ Moffett to retire from the Wyoming Air National Guard

CHEYENNE – Col. James ‘Pat’ Moffett, of Cheyenne, will retire May 6 from the Wyoming Air National Guard with 37 1/2 years of military service.
His last assignment, which he held since August 2013, was with Joint Force Headquarters located in Cheyenne, where he was the Chief of Joint Staff. Moffett also served as the Director of Staff for the Wyoming Air National Guard. In these positions he shared the responsibility for the planning, training and execution of National Guard joint military program operations throughout the state to include Defense Support to Civilian Authorities.
Previous assignments, all with the 153rd Airlift Wing, in Cheyenne, included: August 1991 - January 1996, logistics plans officer; January 1996 - July 1999, commander, 153rd Communications Flight; July 1999 - October 2003, labor relations specialist and supervisor personnel management specialist; October 2001 - October 2003, commander, 153rd Aircraft Generation Squadron; October 2003 - May 2008, commander, 153rd Maintenance Squadron; May 2008 - August 2010, deputy commander, 153rd Maintenance Group; August 2010 - August 2013, commander, 153rd Maintenance Group; August 2013 - May 2016, Chief of the Joint Staff.
Moffett began his military career as an enlisted special vehicle mechanic in the Wyoming Air National Guard in 1979. He served as an aircraft loadmaster logging more than 3,000 hours and received his commission as second lieutenant from the National Guard Academy of Military Science in August 1991, serving as the logistics plans officer.
 Moffett received a laundry list of awards, to include: Meritorious Service Medal; Air Medal; Aerial Achievement Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Achievement Medal; Combat Readiness Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medial; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terror Service Medal and Wyoming National Guard Service Ribbon with 35-year device.
Moffett’s future plans include spending time with friends and family and continuing to be involved in his community.
