CHEYENNE  – Wyoming Air National Guard firefighter Kurtis Haas received national recognition for his standard of professional excellence in the Department of Defense Fire Service.

Haas, as a member of the 153rd Fire and Emergency Services at the 153rd Airlift Wing, was named the Air National Guard Civilian Firefighter of the Year and will receive the Chief Wayne Farrar Award this August during the ANG Fire Chief Association Banquet, in Atlanta.

Chief of Fire and Emergency Services, Senior Master Sgt. Micheal W. Kellebrew, said it was his pleasure to nominate Haas. “Kurtis set the standard of professional excellence for the DoD Fire Service, for himself, and for his peers to follow,” he said. “He exceeds expectations of the fire department and his personal goals through his enthusiasm, determination, knowledge, and involvement of all aspects of the fire service. Kurtis most importantly is a family man and an active member in the community.  All of these qualities made him an excellent choice for the Chief Wayne Farrar Award.”
