Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery to host Memorial Day Ceremony

EVANSVILLE – The Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville will be hosting a Memorial Day ceremony on May 31 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Wyoming Veterans Commission Chairman Travis Deti.

In order for the cemetery to be able to hold this event there will be certain COVID-19 guidelines that the cemetery kindly asks the public who plan on attending to follow.

Guests that are 65 or older and those with physical impairments will be allowed to enter into the chapel with a maximum of 150 inside the building. A mask will be required when inside. The remainder of guests may gather on the east side lawn or in the south parking area. A sound system will be in place for those outside to be able to hear the ceremony.

The cemetery would like to thank everyone in advance for cooperating with the guidelines so that we are able to hold the ceremony. We understand that it may be a slight inconvenience for a short period of time but in the end, the day is about remembering veterans who gave their lives defending our great country.
