CHEYENNE – Master Sgt. Diane Smith of Cheyenne was laterally promoted to 1st sgt. of Joint Force Headquarters in the Wyoming Army National Guard on May 4.
Smith had been the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Joint Staff and had served as first sgt. in the 67th Army Band prior to that. She has been a member of the Wyoming National Guard for 27 years and has 20 years of active federal service.
Smith is the full time coordinator in the Wyoming National Guard’s Counter Drug Program.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to be a first sergeant again,” Smith said. “I’m looking forward to working with the leadership of the state and I’m grateful to be part of a great command team and to have a great support staff.”
