F. E. WARREN – Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon made his first official trip to F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Dec. 20, 2019.
Gordon visited various facilities on base and in the missile field to gain a better understanding of the pivotal nuclear mission that defends the U.S. and allies, and how Wyoming fits into that mission.
He observed demonstrations from Explosive Ordnance Disposal and the Military Working Dogs, then rode in a UH-1N “Huey” to a launch facility then a missile alert facility in the 319th Missile Squadron.
During his tour of a missile alert facility, Gordon descended into the capsule, learning about the job of a missileer and the nature of nuclear deterrence.
Governor Gordon closed the day with an office call with Major General Fred Stoss, 20th Air Force Commander.
